De"r Guy,
I would like to participate in the COlmnunity Facilities Task Force that you are developing. I am a
parent of two children and an active leader in the largest Boy Scout troop in Dublin. I am also
involved with the development of a technology plan with the Dublin School District. Because of

Dear Kay,
I would like to offer my services for the Community Facilities Task Force. As a parent and
] 2 year resident of Dublin, I am very interested in providing for the needs of the people of
Dublin.
I have been involved in our community since moving here, and I think I have a pretty good
idea of our requirements. My main experiences include: Little league coach and umpire,
soccer coach, referee and board member, very active Parent/Faculty Club member, Cub
Scout Den Leader and Cubmaster, school bond issue steering committee member and
participant in many of our community activities. I am currently the Scoutmaster of Boy
Scout Troop 905 and I'm very active in scouting. My youngest child (of four) is now 14,
and I think I am as in touch with youth's needs as anyone in their 50's can be. I am
employed in the Maintenance Department of the Dublin School District, and I have an
excellent knowledge of the school facilities.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,

CITY Of DUBLIN
To the Dublin City Council:
I have been advised by the City Clerk's Office to express my interest in serving on the
Community Facilities Task Force to you through letter rather than application.
I have lived in Dublin since October, 1963. My four children all graduated from Dublin High
School. I worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from May, 1965 until my
retirement in November, 1993. Enclosed is a copy of my resume.
In addition to my work and duties as the single parent of four children, I have been active in
the community. I served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA in the early 70's, was on the
Civil Service Commission of Alameda County from 1977-1982 (including Past President), am
a member and Past President of the Tri-Valley Haven for Women (since 1986), and am the
current President of the Board of Directors for the Southern Alameda County Domestic Violence
Law Project. Upon my retirement I joined the Women's Club of Dublin where I currently serve
as Publicity Chairman and will serve next year as Recording Secretary.
I returned to college at age 40 to complete a Masters in Public Administration at Cal State
Hayward and at age 50 I went to JFK Law School to complete my juris doctor.
As a 32 year resident of Dublin with four children who attended Dublin schools and an active
participant in the community, I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the Community
Facilities Task Force. I am committed to making Dublin a city that offers recreational and social
facilities for all ages groups.
I would be pleased to meet with Council members to discuss my interest in and qualifications
for serving on this Task Force,
Sincerely,
q~ 4I--L

Following is a partial list of groups and associations which have
provided me with pertinent experience:

School District
Chairman, Long-Range Planning Committee -- Church
Youth Elder -- Church
Committee for School Closure, Consolidation, and
Reorganization -- former Murray School District

Much of my professional career as a civil engineer has focused on
short- and long-range planning, design, cost estimating, and
budgeting. I have been ar-tively involved with my sons as they
progressed through the Dublin Schools from kindergarten through
high school graduation. For the past 2-1/2 years my wife and I
have renewed our involvement in school and sports activities
after our foster daughter joined our family.
