FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
The estimated cost of installing landscaping in the City's right of
way is $20,000. The estimated annual maintenance cost (including
utilities) for this area is $1,000. The adopted 1995-96 Budget does
not include funds for either installation or maintenance.
)ESCRIPTION: At the August 8, 1995, meeting, the City Council requested the
location of the City street right-of-way and a cost estimate for landscaping the City's right-of-way along
the San Ramon Road frontage of the True-Value Hardware store. The City right-of-way extends back
approximately 40 feet from the curbline, and the frontage is approximately 100 feet long. The City's 10-
foot-wide bicycle path runs through this area.
Staff prepared estimates for both using the closest available irrigation connection in the median and for
alternately setting a new water meter. Both estimates worked out to be approximately the same cost.
Landscaping proposed to be installed includes turf, four trees, and irrigation. The costs are as follows:
Construction:
Design, bidding, and inspection:
$18,000
$ 2,000
$20,0O0
The estimated annual maintenance and utility cost would be $1,000.
By way of comparison, the commercial property landscaping has been installed and maintained along the
westerly San Ramon Road frontage between Martin Canyon Creek and Dublin Boulevard as follows:

8) Petco:

relandscape the San Ramon Road and Dublin Boulevard street right-
of-way fronting its parcel and will maintain the portion of the right-
of-way adjacent to its driveway. The City will maintain the right-of-
way which constitutes the comer parcel retained by the City.
If the City Council wishes to pursue installation of landscaping in this area during Fiscal Year 1995-96,
this project would need to be added to the Capital Improvement Program and a budget transfer would be
necessary for both the construction and maintenance cost.
