FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Estimated Lost Fee Revenue: $120
DESCRIPTION: Correspondence has been received from Liz Schmitt, president of
the Tri-Valley Unit of the American Cancer Society, requesting that the fees for use of the Dublin Civic
Center be waived for their annual volunteer'recognition and award dinner.
.:-:::-:::.-, Under the current Facility Use Policy for the Dublin Civic Center, the Tri-Valley Unit of the American
Cancer Society would be classified as a Non.Resident Community Group. The fees for use under this
classification are as follows:
Use during regular business hours
Use outside of regular business hours
Use for the purpose offundraising
$10 per hour
$30 per hour
$48 per hour
In addition to the fees shown above, a $200 Security Deposit (refundable) is required and groups must
provide evidence of liability insurance covering bodily injury and property damage at a minimum limit of
$500,000 per occurrence. If the City were to charge the American Cancer Society for use as requested,
the revenue generated would total approximately $120 (4 hours at $30 per hour).
In the past, the City Council has granted fee waivers to the Valley Volunteer Center, the Dublin Sister
City Association and the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation.
Staff recommends that the City Council consider the request for waiver of the Facility Use Fees for use of
the Dublin Civic Center by the Tri-Valley Unit of the American Cancer Society. If the fee waiver is
approved, Statfrecommends that the Tri-Valley Unit of the American Cancer Society be required to put
forth the Security Deposit as well as provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance.

Dublin City Council

Honorable Council Members,
This letter is written to ask you to wave the fees associated with the rental of
Bray Hall for May 31, 1996. The A~erican Cancer Society would like to use the
facility to hold a thank you award evening for the many volunteers that have assisted
the Society over the past year. These folks make all that we do possible. Perhaps
you are aware that the American Cancer Society does not charge for any of its many
services. Members of the Community have come together to host this event and every
thing will be donated from the various companies and stores from the Tri-Valley
Area.
Your support of this event will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Sincerely, / .
