Thompson, Public Works Director None Receive report. Minor cost of removing a shrub, concrete work, and sign installation. Sufficient funds are budgeted in the Street Maintenance Operating Budget DESCRIPTION: At the May 28, 1996, City Council meeting, Staff provided a brief report regarding a concern expressed by a resident of the "Parkway Terrace" subdivision at Village Parkway and Wineberry Way that it is difficult to mm left onto Village Parkway fi-om Wineberry Way because of the speed and amount of oncoming traffic. The May 28th Staff'report discussed a previous review of the intersection and noted that shrubbery had been trimmed to improve sight distance. It was also discussed in the previous report that the City plans to install a traffic signal at the Village Parkway / Davona Drive intersection in the 1998-99 fiscal year, assuming that ISTEA funding is received. The signal would provide breaks in northbound traffic that could facilitate exiting from W'meberry Way onto Village Parkway. Staff contacted the City of San Ramon regarding the Village Parkway / Kimball Avenue intersection and was advised that warrant studies had been performed for both stop signs and a traffic signal; however, the intersection does not meet the warrants for either control device at this time. The City of San Ramon will continue to monitor the intersection, with the intention of providing a control device at such time as the warrants are met. At this time, Staffis removing one additional shrub that may present a visibility problem. The dirt area where the shrub is located will then be filled with concrete in conjunction with the next City sidewalk repair project. Staffis also proposing to install an "Intersection Ahead" sign for southbound traffic, as the Wineberry intersection may be difficult to see. The sign will be located on Village Parkway, north of the Wineberry intersection. In addition, Police Services will be providing additional speed limit enforcement on Village Parkway, including use of the radar wailer. g:kagenmisc\winbery2 'COPIES TO: Mr. Wagner ITEM NO. ~
