DESCRIPTION: At the January 21, 1997 meeting of the Dublin City Council, the
Council directed Staff to submit a letter to Col. Bain requesting a long term permit of approximately 20
acres of surplus land at Camp Parks. The land in question had previously been earmarked by Dublin
United Soccer League for development of a soccer field complex.
Staff recently met with Col. Bain and he indicated that he has forwarded the request for the long term
permit to the Fort Lewis, Washington where it will be reviewed by the Army's Real Estate Director.
. From there, the request will go to Atlanta, Georgia for legal review by the Army. Once the request is
<.approved, it will be forwarded to the Real Estate Division in Sacramento, California where the necessary
- paperwork for the permit will be drawn up. Col. Bain indicated that it may be six to eight months before
the permit is granted and that the permit will probably only be for a maximum of three to five years with
an option to renew.
Staff will continue to monitor the process and provide the City Council with periodic updates as
additional information becomes available.
