Thompson, Public Works Director E~IIBITS ATTACH~ED: 1) Resolution 2) Location Map RECOMMENDATION: FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Adopt Resolution directing Stuff to apply for funding If the City of Dublin's project is approved, the City will receive a $47,000 grant from the State to construct a bridge at Mape Memorial Park. across Martin Canyon Creek. The City of Dublin is requesting approximately $47,000 in TDA DESCRIPTION: ITmding to install a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the creek at Mape Memorial Park within the City of Dublin. This bridge will connect the bicycle and pedestrian path south of Mape Park to the park and Nielsen School to the north of the park. Children are now walking across the creek in dry weather to get to school. Please see the attached project location map. This project was previously included as part o£the refurbishing of Mape Park, but due to funding constraints, the bridge was eliminated from the contract. If the City receives this grant, it is anticipated that funds will be available in late Summer of this year. Design has already been completed, and once the contract has been let it is estimated to take about 3 months to fabricate and install the bridge. COPIES TO: Nina Wixson, Kildara Resident ITEM NO. g:Lmiscproj\pedbridge\agsttda · ' RESOLWrION NO. - 98 A RESOLUTION OF ~ CITY COUNCIL OF ~ CITY OF DUBLIN - ' APPROVING BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEICLENT PROJECT AND DIRECTING STAFF TO APPLY TO THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT ARTICLE 3 FUNDING and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Dublin is concerned regarding the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians; WHEREAS, Mape Memorial Park is a park in the City of Dublin; and WHEREAS, there is a need for a project to construct a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over Martin Canyon Creek in Mape Memorial Park; and WHEREAS, bicycle and pedestrian walk-ways encourage the use of alternative modes of transportation which reduce congestion on roadways and improve air q,,ality, and WHEREAS, bicycle facility and pedestrian walkway projects are eligible for funding through the Metropohtan Transpo~tion Commission unde~ Transportation Development Act Article 3; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has determined that said project is Categorically Exempt under the California Environmental Qamlity Act (CEQA); NOW, THEREFORE BE iT RESOLVED that this 'City Council does hereby approve said project to construct a bicycle and pedestrian bridge at Mape Memorial Park; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works or his designee is hereby authorized to apply to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for the Transportation Development Act Article 3 fired/rig for said project; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works or his designee is hereby authorized to subm/t all claims for the Transportation Development Act Article 3 reimbursement for the costs of said projects; and BE iT FUR~ RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby direct Staffto submit and application to the Metzopolitan Transportation Commission for funding of the projects under Article 3 of the Transportation Development Act.
