CITY OF
DUBLIN, CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, decent, safe and affordable housing is one of the basic necessities of life; and
WItEREAS, affordable housing is of vital importance to the health and well-being of Dublin's residents; and
WItEREAS, approxbnately 2,500 individuals are paying more than 30 percent, and some more than 50 percent, of their income for
housing; and
WHEREAS, over 1,000 units of below market cost rental and ownership housing have been built by either nonprofit or for-profit
developers throughout the Tri- Valley area during the past decade; and
WHEREAS, these affordable housing unzts are well managed, well' maintained, and constitute a posittve contribution to each
community's housing stock and the community as a whole; and ~ "
WHEREAS, East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) is the largest affordable housing coalition in Alameda County, providing
education and advocacy on affordable housing issues; and
WItEREAS, the City of Dublin is collaborating with EBHO and other agencies to organize events during Affordable Housing Week;
including a tour of existing affordable housing sites in the Tri-Valley area, to acknowledge the need for, and contributions of
affordable housing.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED that the Dublin City Council hereby proclaims June 6, 1999 through fune 12, 1999 as
"Affordable Housing Week" in the City of Dublin, and calls upon all residents of Dublin to learn about and honor the contributions
of affordable housing by participating in activities held throughout the week to commemorate this observance.
