RECOMMENDAT!ON: ~ ' ~'~"~Adopt resolution directing Staff to apply for TDA funding
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: If the City of Dublin's TDA grant application is approved, ~e City
will receive $43,337 to partially fund the construction of the Alamo
Canal Bicycle Path project. The City will need to appropriate
additional funds to fully construct the project.
DESCRIPTION: City Staff has submitted the Alamq ~an~..~icycle Path Capital
Improvement Project to the Audit Committee of the Alameda County Transportation Advisory Committee
for consideration for Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funding. Alameda County and
the cities within Alameda County compete for TDA funding, which is available for certain pedestrian and
bicycle projects, on an annual basis. If the City's application is approved, TDA funds in the amount of
$43,337 Would be available in the 1999-2000 fiscal year.
The Alamo Canal Bike Path project from Amador Valley Boulevard to 1-580 is estimated to cost
$689,072. The TDA funds that will be available to the City are not sufficient to build ~_en. firo project.
However, these funds could be us~ed to .cons~ct.~ portion of the trail from Amador Yalley BouleVard to
the bridge over Alamo Canal. This segment is estimated to cost $250,686. Staff will continue to pursue
additional grant funding to fund additional portions of the project.
Staff recommends that .~,e.CitY Council adopt the Resolution directing Staff to apply to the Metr6politan
Transportation Commission for this TDA Article 3 funding for the Alamo Can. al Bicycle Path project.

From 1-580 at the Pleasanton City Limit, conti.nuing north
along the Alameda County-Zone 7 rights-of-way to Amador
Valley Boulevard, Dublin, Alameda County, California 94568
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Construction of the Alamo Canal Bicycle Path from !-580 at
the Pleasanton City Limit to Amador Valley Boulevard, as a
continuation of the project commenced during Fiscal Year
1998-99.
The City of Dublin, on June 1, 1999, found that the above approved project has the following
exempt status:
Categorical Exemption, Class 1(c), Section 15101
Reasons why project is. exempt: Minor public alterations of eXisting public facilities involving
negligible or no expansion of use beyond that previously existing - construction of bicycle path
along existing public rights-of-way.
