Thompson, Public Works Director EXltlRITS ATTACtlI:D: Resolution, including map and description RECOMMENDATION: ./~Adopt resolution of intention, setting public hearing dates of November 2rid and 16th FINANCIAL STATEMENT: This undergrounding project will be funded primarily by California Public Utilities Commission Rule 20A funds. Some associated work such as replacement of street lighting that is currently on wood utility poles is not covered under Rule 20A funds and will be paid from the Dublin Boulevard Widening project. It has been noted that a few buildings within this District have overhead Cable TV services which will need to be undergrounded at property owner's expense. DESCRIPTION: The City Council previously indicated that this portion of Dublin Boulevard is next on the priority list for utility undergrounding. It is proposed that the undergrounding take place in conjunction with the Dublin Boulevard Widening Capital Improvement Project, which is scheduled to be constructed during the 2000-2001 construction season. Staff has had a preliminary walkthrough of the project with representatives of Pacitic Gas and Electric, Pacific Bell, TCI, and Spit. The current cost estimate for this undergrounding project, based entirely on -lineal footage, is about $700,000. The utility companies have indicated that a more definite estimate can be calculated once the City' s preliminary road construction plans are available. The Dublin Muncipal Code establishes a procedure for the formation of underground utility districts. This procedure requires adoption of a resolution of intention, which identifies the limits of the District, sets a time frame for the undergrounding to occur, sets a time limit for undergrounding of private services, and sets a date for public hearings for the ordinance creating the District. g:~xiscproj\undergrounddist~agstintn COPIES TO: Sterling Pflaum, PG&E Gil Moomau, PG&E Property Owners in Proposed District4~ 6 ITEM NO.
