DESCRIPTION: At the December 7th meeting, the City Council adopted a resolution establishing a one-hour parking zone in front of the 6891 Village Parkway (Kids Again and Dublin Plumbing Supply)and introduced an ordinance which would repeal a 20-minute parking zone in front of the Post Office to allow unrestricted parking. Also at the December 7th meeting, it was requested that red curb be provided adjacent to the post office driveway for sight distance purposes. The red curb already · exists and is included in the Traffic Code so it appears no further action is needed in that regard. As indicated in the Staff report for the December 7th meeting~ Staff noted that there is actually a white curb in front of the post office. A white curb normally designates a passenger loading zone. In 1990, the City Council adopted an ordinance repealing a passenger loading zone and establishing a 20-minute parking zone in front of the Post Office, but it appears this change was not made on the street. Unrestricted parking would now be of more benefit to the post office than either a passenger loading zone or Iimited parking. g:XagenmiscXone hour pkg v'pw COPIES TO: Plumbing Supply Dublin Post Office, Kids Again, Dublin ITEM NO. 6 -~ 1 Because the existing public record states that this area is a 20-minute parking zone, it is recommended that the City Council repeal the 20-minute parking zone in from of the Post Office. This will allow approximately 96 feet (five car lengths) of unrestricted parking for employees and customers of the Post Office and other businesses in the area. Staff has contacted a representative of the Post Office regarding this change and has received concurrence with the Staff recommendation. Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing, deliberate, waive the reading and adopt the ordinance x:epealing the 20-minute parking zone.
