The city must take action to make a formal application for entry into the National Flood Insurance Program. Because the city can now regulate the land use and zoning within the city limits, it will be necessary to adopt a Flood Plain Management ordinance similar to that of the county's. Three items are needed to assure uninterrupted flood insurance eligibility;. 1. A one-page application (sample enclosed); 2. A resolution of the City Council (sample enclosed); 3. An ordinance by the City Council regulating future development within the city's identified Flood Hazard Areas (same-•eeelaaed). I have highlighted just those sections in the Flood Plain Regulations the city need adopt. As soon as I receive the items above I will initiate the procedure to assure flood insurance eligibility to all city property owners. So that our Agency can develop a Flood Insurance Rate Map specifically for the community, I would request a city base map identifying the current city limits and any new subdivisions not presently on the county map accompany the city's application. If questions arise or clarification needed, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Dale Peterson of my staff for assistance at (415) 556-9840. Sincerely, Thomas F. Brinton, Chief Natural and Technical Hazards Division Enclosures 0 r r RESOLUTION NUMBER: 0 .
