FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION The City has received a communication from the State
of California Office of Emergency Services requesting
that the City participate in the State ' s Winter Storm
Preparedness Campaign. The State has requested that
the City adopt the attached resolution and provide the
attached pamphlets to the public in the City ' s
Offices .

OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 13-19, 1983
"WINTER STORM PREPAREDNESS WEEK"
WHEREAS, California' s past two winters have been
extremely severe and have resulted in deaths, injuries, and
extensive property damage; and
WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is a function of
government depending upon leadership of the executive officers and '
the efforts of many dedicated career civil servants and
volunteers; and
WHEREAS, under the coordination of the Governor ' s Office
of Emergency Services, a number of local, state, federal and .
volunteer agencies are attempting to inform and educate the public
on storm preparedness ; and
WHEREAS, by taking reasonable precautions, local
residents can protect themselves from loss of life and property
and reduce the effects of winter on our energy resources and our
economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the week of
November 13-19 , 1983 , is hereby proclaimed "Winter Storm
Preparedness Week" and all residents are urged to "Winter-Wise
Your Family - - Prepare for Storms" .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Dublin will
provide its residents with the appropriate preparedness
information for the 1983-84 winter season.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of November,
1983 .

SUBJECT: November 13-19, 1983, Winter . Storm Preparedness Campaign.
Attached is a copy of a letter sent to members of the Board of Supervisors
and the City Council urging them to proclaim "Winter Storm Preparedness
Week" on November 13-19, 1983. Also attached is a copy of Governor
Deukmejian's proclamation establishing ."Winter Storm Preparedness Week",
and a sample proclamation which can be used by the Board or Council in
preparing their. own resolution.
We would appreciate it if you could work with your Board or Council
to have them proclaim the week. of November 13 as "Winter Storm Preparedness
Week".
