name change
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Approximately $150 . 00 for changes in
Assessor ' s Office records , plus additional costs to change
street sign if already made .
DESCRIPTION: GWMR, the sole owner of all 17 lots on
Denise Court, is requesting a street name change to either
Shannon Place, Shannon Court, Shannon Glen, or Wexford
Court . According to the applicant, the basis for the
request is to continue the Irish theme for the project.
City of Dublin Ordinance 4-83 provides that, in the event
that all occupants on the affected street consent in writing
to the change, the Council may make such change without
referral to the Planning Commission, and without a public
hearing . Since GWMR is the sole owner of all 17 lots on
Denise Court, the change can be approved by the Council
without a public hearing.
Listed below, in a summary format, is the responses from the
affected agencies :
Dublin Police : No Objection
Ala . Co . Planning : Prefers Shannon Court
Cablevision : Prefers Shannon Place
Contra Costs Planning : Shannon Place, Shannon Court, or
Shannon Glen would be acceptable
-----------------------------------------------------------------
ITEM NO. • T COPIES TO: Buzz Martin,
Applicant
City Engineer : No problems
DSRSD Prefers Shannon Court
Postal Service : Shannon Court, Shannon Place or
Shannon Glen would be acceptable
Fire Department : Prefers Shannon Court
Building Inspection: No recommendation
County Assessor : Prefers no change
Several of the agencies noted that Wexford Court would be
unacceptable because it conflicts with an existing street
name . Cablevision noted that Shannon Court might be
confused with Sharon Court .
It is Staff ' s recommendation that the City Council change
the street name to Shannon Court . The basis for this
recommendation is that the affected street is actually a
court ; it seems logical and practical to have Shannon Court
coming off Shannon Place ; several of the agencies noted
above prefer Shannon Court; and the change would maintain an
Irish theme for the project .

RESOLUTION NO .
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

Subject: Proposed Street Name Change, TR. 4569, Denise Court
After reviewing the proposed street names, County Planning has determined
Shannon Court to be most appropriate. The designation "Court" is used for
public streets, whereas the designation "Place" is commonly used for
private Streets. Wexford Court is a street name already in use in the City of
Dublin. If you have any questions regarding County street naming policy,
feel free to call me at 881-6401 . I have put Shannon Court on our street name
reserve list.

Subject: Proposed street name change review
Dear Mr. Tong:
This department has found no conflict with the proposal to change the
street name of Denise Court to Shannon Place, in Tract 4569. Our records
also show the proposed alternative, Shannon Court and Shannon Glen, to be
acceptable. However the last alternative of Wexford Court shows an exist-
ing address of #8264 in Dublin, using zip code 94568. For this reason
Wexford Court is unacceptable .
Sincerely yours,

Re: Proposed street name change, Denise Court
Dear Mr. Tong:
I agree with the name Shannon Place as the first choice
for the name change of Denise Court.
As for the alternate names, Shannon Glen would be my
second choice. We cannot use Wexford Court because
Dublin has a "Wexford" Court and Dublin has a "Sharon"
Court which sounds much like "Shannon" Court.
Thank you for the opportunity to make these comments .
Cordially,

Subject: Referral of Proposed Street Name Change, Denise
Court, TR 4569
Dear Larry,
The Public Works Department has no objection to the change of the
street name to Shannon Court. I believe that with the Shannon
Community Center across the street and the street called Shannon
Place coming off of Shannon Avenue, it could be confusing to the
general public. Shannon Court seems to be the most appropriate
of the names listed.

Dear Mr. Tong:
In response to your letter of September 8, 1983
concerning a street name change for Denise Court
in Tract 4569, the Postal Service would have no
objection to the proposed names Shannon Place,
Court or Glen. However, we strongly object to
the alternative proposal of Wexford Court as the
name would duplicate the existing Wexford Court
off Brighton Drive.
Thank you for calling the proposed name change to
our attention. We attempt to avoid names similar
in spelling or phonetics to existing names to
enable efficient sorting of the mail, and thus
appreciate the opportunity to comment on proposed
street names.

RE Proposed Change of Street Name
Tract 4569 - Denise Court
Dear Mr. Tong:
The Dublin San Ramon Services District Fire Department
has reviewed the request of Buzz Martin for a street name
change in Tract 4569. Please be advised that the DSRSD
Fire Department has no object to a street name change;
however, we would prefer Shannon Court rather than Shannon
Place. Wexford Court, which was also suggested, is un-
acceptable to the Department as we already have a Wexford
Court in our District.
Very truly yours,

Dear Mr. Tong:
As per our phone conversation of July 7, 1983 I am hereby
requesting the street name of Tract Number 4569 to be changed
from Denise Court to one of the following names listed :
lst choice - Shannon Place
2nd choice - Shannon Court
3rd choice - Shannon Glen
4th choice - Wexford Court
The reasons for the requested name change is that we would
like to continue the Irish name theme of Shannon for our project
and it is our opinion that one of the above requested names would
be more appropriate .
Please call me if additional information is needed .
