Dublin ' s share , would be $40 ,000 . 00 with the developer of tract 4668 paying $25 ,000 _ 2 ) Annual signal maintenance and operation - cost, approximately $2 , 800 per year . DESCRIPTION As part of the City ' s five (5 ) year Capital Improvement Program, the City Council designated the construction of a • traffic signal at the intersection of San Ramon Road and Alcosta Boulevard • for fiscal year 1984-85 . As initially proposed, the funding for this project would be shared by the City of Dublin and the City of San Ramon on a 25% and 75% basis respectively. This proposed funding split was based- on_ the fact that the City of Dublin only has one of the four legs of the intersection "within its City limits .. Recently, staff has met with the City of San Ramon staff to discuss the desirability of proceeding 'rapidly with the construction of the traffic • signal at San Ramon Road and Alcosta Boulevard. San Ramon staff has indicated that the ability of San Ramon to participate in this project would be based on a fifty-fifty sharing of the cost. It was agreed at that meeting that both City' s would equally benefit by having a traffic signal located at that intersection. If both .City Councils concur with this cost sharing arrangement, the signal could be installed more quickly if the City of Dublin took responsibility as lead agency in the design and construction of the project and then billed the City of San Ramon for one half of the cost. Both staff agreed that once the signal was constructed, the City of San Ramon would be the -lead agency with respect to .maintenance: Under this arrangement the City of San Ramon would bill the City of Dublin for one half of the operation and maintenance cost of the signal after the installation of the signal has been completed. In the future this signal would be interconected with the two proposed state traffic signals at the off-ramps of I-680 and Alcosta Boulevard, as well as the traffic signal at the insection of Alcosta Boulevard and Davona Drive. It is staff ' s recommendation that the City Council agree to a fifty percent/fifty percent cost sharing arrangement with the City of San Ramon and further direct staff to prepare a joint exercise of powers agreement with the City of San Ramon for the installation and maintenance of the . traffic signal . • .
