SUBJECT: American Planning Association (APA) Annual
Planning Conference, April 20 - 24, 1985

RECOMMENDATION:� Authorize attendance of
Planning Director
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Approximately $1, 325.00 including
registration, lodging, transportation,
and meals . Sufficient funds are
available in the Planning Budget
DESCRIPTION: The American Planning Association (APA)
Annual Conference is being held in Montreal from April 20-24 ,
1985. The conference offers a number of seminars which can
directly benefit the Staff and the City in the areas of:
- parking and transportation
- commercial revitalization
- urban design
- feasibility analysis
- management and professional skills
Other Planning Directors from the Tri-Valley Area and the Bay
Area are scheduled to attend the conference. The conference
provides an excellent opportunity for Staff )to establish a
network with other Planning Directors from the nation to compare
experiences and share ideas. The information, training, and
experiences provided may become valuable assets in planning the
City ' s growth and development.
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the Planning
Director to attend the American Planning Association Annual
Conference, April 20-24 , 1985 in Montreal .
