EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:The City Council will present the Constitution Week Proclamation.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:Present the proclamation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:None.
DESCRIPTION:Constitution Week is the commemoration of one of America’s most important founding documents. It is celebrated annually during the week of September 17-23.The aims of the Constitution Week celebration are to:
Emphasize citizens’ responsibilities to protect and defend the Constitution.
Inform people that the Constitution is the basis for America’s great heritage and thefoundation for our way of life.
Encourage the study of the historical events which led to the framing of the Constitution inSeptember 1787.
STRATEGIC PLAN INITIATIVE:None.
NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH:The City Council Agenda was posted.

A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF DUBLIN, CALIFORNIA
“Constitution Week”
September 17-23, 2021
WHEREAS,September 17, 2021 marks the two hundred thirty-fourth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the
United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary;
and to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the occasion; and
WHEREAS,the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) upholds the goals of Constitution Week,
supporting Dublin libraries, schools and civic organizations in teaching all citizens, especially youth and newly naturalized
citizens, about our founding documents; and
WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of America
designating September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Dublin City Council does hereby proclaim September 17, 2021 through
September 23, 2021, as Constitution Week, and encourages our citizens to reaffirm the ideals that the framers of the constitution
had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedom guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, and remembering that
lost rights may never be regained.
