SUBJ . Approval of an Additional City Directional Signage Location for East Dublin Auto
Dealers

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On April 6, 2010, the City Council approved five locations for city directional signs to direct
visitors to the auto dealers located in east Dublin. Staff is recommending that the City Council
approve one additional location on John Monego Court to assist in the City's wayfinding efforts.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Costs associated with the installation of the sign will be the responsibility of the City. Costs for
the production of any additional directional signs will be paid for by the requesting party
(Hamcor, LLC, the parent company for Dublin Toyota).
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the additional City directional sign location for automotive dealers on John Monego
Court.

DESCRIPTION:
On November 3, 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution 161-09 amending the City's
Streetscape Master Plan Policies to allow for City directional signage for places, building or
locations of regional or historical significance. At this meeting, the City Council also approved
City directional signs for the automotive dealers on Scarlett Drive and Scarlett Court, as a way
to achieve a 2009-2010 City Council High Priority Goal and Objective to "assist the automobile
dealers on Scarlett Court by enhancing their presence." Since that action, the three new City
directional signs were installed to direct visitors to the dealers located on Scarlett Drive and
Scarlett Court.
On April 6, 2010, the City Council approved five locations for City directional signs in east
Dublin to support auto dealers located there. After the City Council action, Staff met with auto
dealers in that area and a request was made for a sixth location on John Monego Court to
support the changes to the line of brands currently being offered there.
Staff evaluated the request and met with the ad-hoc Economic Development Committee to
receive policy guidance and direction. The Committee agreed with Staff's recommendation to
add the sixth location and requested that Staff bring forward the request to the City Council for
consideration.
The additional sign will likely be placed in the pubtic right-of-way median at the northernmost
section of John Monego Court, directing drivers southbound to the General Motors dealership
site. Prior to the installation of the sign, Staff will work with the property owners to ensure that
the sign and the median will be properly maintained in that area.
