The total value of the gifts is $2,250
DESCRIPTION: In FY 2008-2009, the Dublin Historical Preservation Association
(DHPA) provided financial support for a variety of activities and projects that enhanced the operations of
the Dublin Heritage Center. These gifts include: hosting a Launch Party for the Online Archives and the
Heritage Center Website in October 2008, supporting the first annual Heritage Tea Event in November
2008 by purchasing decor supplies to make the setting inviting for participants, supporting the Heritage
Center's "Tea Room" program during the St. Patrick's Day weekend by constructing an Irish Cottage Set
and purchasing tea pots and other supplies that helped to make the event so successful, and hosting a
reception for the curator of the John Green exhibit on May 17, 2009. All of these gifts helped the Dublin
Heritage Center put its best foot forward for public events.
The DHPA also helped local Boy Scouts complete improvement projects at the Dublin Heritage Center
this fiscal year. With the support of the DHPA, an Eagle Scout candidate built two portable refreshment
counters for Old St. Raymond's Church. The counters improve the appearance greatly and facilitate
smooth operations for events. The DHPA has also committed to two additional projects at the Heritage
Center including repairing signs in the Pioneer Cemetery and refurbishing a vestibule in the Murray
Schoolhouse.
As per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and contributions be formally
accepted by the City Council.
