Acceptance of Gifts to City for Spring and Summer Special Events

Recognize the sponsors and formally accept the contributions
There was a total of $7,150 in monetary contributions for the events.
DESCRIPTION: The City has received several monetary contributions for
sponsorship of the spring and summer special events including the Family Sports Fest, Father's Day
Picnic, Community Golf Tournament, Outdoor Movie Nights and Summer Concert Series.
Family Sports Fest
The 3rd Annual Family Sports Fest was held at Dublin High School and the Dublin Swim Center on
Sunday, April 19, 2009. Youth participants were able to compete in sanctioned competitions such as
Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit and Run and the Junior Olympic sports of basketball, soccer, tennis
and track & field. The winners advanced to represent Dublin in regional competitions. In addition to these
competitions, free swimming, aquatic safety demonstrations and face painting were offered at the Swim
Center. Youth sports groups in attendance included the Dublin Falcons, Dublin Little League, Dublin
United Soccer League and St. Raymond's CYO. The Deputy Sheriffs' Association of Alameda County
was a sponsor for the event as well as Chipotle which donated burritos. Following are the sponsors for
the Family Sports Fest.

Dublin Community Golf Tournament
The 2nd Annual Dublin Community Golf Tournament was held at the Dublin Ranch Golf Course on
Tuesday, June 23, 2009. The event was intergenerational in nature, combining teens, adults and seniors on
teams to compete in a scramble style tournament. The tournament featured golf, awards banquet, putting
contest and silent auction.
The Dublin Community Golf Tournament serves as a fundraiser for the City's new Youth Fee Assistance
Program. The event was able to generate $2,500 in net proceeds that will be deposited into the Youth Fee
Assistance Fund. This is one-half of the first year goal of generating $5,000 in donations to start the
program. Following were the sponsors of the Community Golf Tournament.

Father's Day Picnic
The 3rd Annual Father's Day Picnic was held on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Emerald Glen Park. The event
featured old fashioned fun for the entire family including field games, contests, crafts, and entertainment.
There were over 100 people in attendance at the event. Following was the event sponsor.

Summer Concert Series
The 2009 Summer Concert Series was held over five consecutive Friday evenings starting on July 10 and
ending on August 7. The Concerts were held at the Dublin Civic Center Fountain Plaza from 7:00-9:00
p.m. Each concert attracted over 250 attendees. The event sponsor of the 2009 series was Best Buy who
donated two 37" Toshiba Color HD Televisions valued at $1,258. One Television will be used as a raffle
prize for the 2010 Community Golf Tournament and the other will be used for program purposes in the
renovated Kolb Ranch structures.

Outdoor Movie Nights
The 2009 Outdoor Movie Nights are being held on the last Friday of June, July and August at Emerald
Glen Park. This year the series features showings of Happy Feet, Madagascar, and Shrek. Each movie
night attracts over 750 attendees. Following was the sponsor of the 2009 series.

In recognition of their contributions, these sponsors and organizations will be presented with certificates
of appreciation for supporting Dublin. Per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all
gifts and contributions be formally accepted by the City Council.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council recognize the sponsors and
formally accept the contributions.
