Subject: Proposed Brighton signal light
I am a long-time resident of Dublin and the owner of the home at 6802 Amador Valley
Blvd. I'd like to express a few concerns about the proposed stop light at Brighton and
Amador Valley Blvd.
1) I hope that the light will allow U turns. We live on the south side of the boulevard, a
few houses east of Brighton, and, like the residents of the three or four other houses to the
south and east of Brighton on the Boulevard, need to take U turns somewhere to get
access to our homes when arriving from the east. Without the ability to make U turns at
Brighton, we would have to travel a block or two--or more-- westward before turning
around to get home.
2) The Day Care Center at the northwest corner of Brighton and Amador Valley Blvd,
was the subject of some controversy when a zoning exception was made for its
establishment. As I recall, the City agreed to the zoning exception with certain
provisions, one being that parking for parents dropping off kids should be on the
Brighton side of the street so as to reduce congestion on the Boulevard. The new plan
would eliminate that possibility, leaving customers to park and pick up their children on
Amador Valley Boulevard. I don't know what might or should be done about this, but it
does seem that the installation of the light with the proposed addition of a turn lane will
alter that original agreement.
Thanks for your attention to these issues and for your service to our city.
