BOARD OF DIRECTORS
October 9, 1985
The Honorable Peter Snyder
Mayor, City of Dublin
Post Office Box 2340
Dublin, Ca. 94568
Dear Mayor Snyder:
As Chairman of the Board of Directors of Valley Memorial Hospital
I am committed to keeping you informed of the hospital ' s plans
for expansion , joint venturing, or changes in the delivery of our
services.
As you know, Valley Memorial is, in conjunction with Alta Bates
Corporation and John Muir Memorial Hospital, considering plans
for the development of new programs and facilities in the Valley.
The next meeting of the Task Force is October 14. At that time,
I believe, we will converge the various elements _of our study
into a realistic first generation project plan.
The terms of our Joint Venture contract require that the Joint
Venturers not release specifics of the plan until the Board of
Directors of each of the Joint Venture partners has fully
reviewed the proposals. The VMH Board of Directors will meet
October 18, 19, and 20 to review the Joint Venture proposal .
Immediately thereafter, I would like to meet with you and the
city council to discuss our plans with you.
I re-emphasize that in creating new facilities and services, we
intend to meet the bea1th care needs of the Valley without
degradation of the services provided at our present locations
( i . e. , Valley Memorial Hospital in Livermore and the Family
Medical Center in San Ramon) .
Mr. Robert 11. Fish, Acting Chief Executive Officer, and I look
forward to meeting with you and the council to present the
findings of th study.
Sincerely,
Gene Br-(a dma
