The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, commonly referred to
as D.A.R.E., is an educational program designed to communicate
the perilS of drug abuse to our youth. As utilized by the
Alameda County Sheriff's Department, the program targets fifth-
grade students in the unincorporated areas of Alameda County.
The D.A.R.E. program conducted by the Alameda County Sheriff's
Department has a curriculum that is 17 weeks in duration, with
the students receiving approximately one hour lessons each week.
Each lesson contains a different subject matter, including the
consequences of drug use and abuse, alternatives to drug use,
ways to say "no" to drug use, stress management, violence
reduction, self-esteem, gang education, and other related subject
matters.
The Drug Prevention Awareness Program conducted by Dublin Police
Services in joint cooperation with the Dublin Joint Unified
School District, begins in kindergarten and continues through the
student's high school years. There is drug education material
presented by uniformed members of Dublin Police Services that
serves as a supplement to the curriculum provided by the School
District. The students attending school in Dublin consistently
receive information regarding the effects of drug abuse, the
