DESCRIPTION: At the May 28, 1996 meeting of the Dublin City Council, the
Council approved the master plan for the renovation of Mape Memorial Park. The approved master plan
includes the following design elements: 1) separated younger and older children's play areas with
.:--- accessible equipment and surfacing; 2) new park furniture including benches, la'ash receptacles and picnic
"'.> tables; 3) two small group picnic areas; 4) concrete walkway encircling the park; 5) upgraded park
lighting; 6) sand volleyball court; 7) reslxoom building; 8) pedestrian bridge over the creek; and 9)
enhanced shrub and tree plantings.
The construction documents have been completed and the cost estimate for the improvements under this
contract is $354,891. If a 10% contingency is added to the cost estimate, the improvements will exceed
the 1996-97 Fiscal Year Budget by $30,105. Consequently, StatT has identified the pedestrian bridge as
an additive bid item alternate so that if the bid exceeds the amount budgeted, the Council may delete the
bridge for installation at a later date.
Staffrecommends that the City Council authorize advertising of Contract 96-07 for bids.
