Home My WebLink About4.02 Non Conforming Signs Status Report CITY OF DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 24 , 1992 SUBJECT: Monthly Status Report regarding existing Nonconforming Signs identified on the Nonconforming Sign Summary List REPORT PREPARED BY: Ralph Kachadourian, Assistant Planner/Zoning Investigator Vy- RECOMMENDATION: t \ 'Accept Report FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Staff has mailed the first set of reminder letters to the business/property owners regarding the upcoming July 1992 expiration date. The letters identify the signs which are nonconforming and the options available to bring the nonconforming signs into compliance with the City's Sign Ordinance. Attached is an updated current status list indicating fifty-eight (58) sign locations. The previous nonconforming sign summary list and staff report reviewed by the City Council at its meeting of December 23 , 1991 , identified 57 sign locations (55 nonconforming and 2 illegal) . One sign location was inadvertently identified on the list as one nonconforming sign location when in fact the location consists of two (2) separate properties with separate property owners. Therefore, the updated status list counts this as two (2) locations adjusting the total sign locations to fifty-eight (58) . In addition, one other nonconforming sign location has one (1) nonconforming sign and one (1) illegal sign. The status list indicates the reminder letters and notices sent and shows the type of approval(s) options required to maintain the existing nonconforming sign or to modify the nonconforming sign to comply with the ordinance. The following is a summary of the attached status list: Eight (8) sign locations could apply for Site Development Review. One (1) sign location could apply for a Conditional Use Permit. --------- - -------------------------- ------------------------ ITEM NO. Thirty-one ( 31) sign locations could apply for a combination of either a Site Development Review, Conditional use Permit, Variance or an Administrative Conditional Use Permit. One ( 1) sign location has one nonconforming sign which could apply for a combination approval and one illegal sign which requires removal . Two (2) signs are illegal signs (including the sign listed above) and require removal . - Four (4) sign locations did not submit a request for a time extension. Three ( 3 ) sign locations have received approvals to bring their nonconforming signs into compliance. - Six (6) sign locations have been corrected and are in compliance with the Sign Ordinance. The comments section of the status list indicates 1) Staff's discussion with a business/property owner and if an appropriate application has been submitted, 2) the four business/property owner locations which did not submit a request for a time extension, and 3) approvals granted for compliance of existing nonconforming signs.
