DESCRIPTION: Slurry seal is a preventive maintenance technique used to prolong
the life o£asphatt surfacing. It consists ora sand/oil mixture which seals cracks and provides a new
uniform wearing surface. The City streets are slurried approximately every five to seven years, depending
upon the level of wear.
Failed pavement repairs, which are required prior to the placement of slurry seal, are being performed as
part of the Annual Overlay contract.
Staffrecommends that the City Council authorize Staff to advertise for bids for the Annual Slurry Seal
Program, Contract 99-05.
