ITEM NO. g 5mtncproj\srrsilv\agstacpt DESCRIPTION: On April 1, 1997, the City Council awarded the San Ramon Road Landscape Repair and Silvergate Drive Median Landscaping Contract to Herzer Landscaping, Incorporated. This project renovated existing landscaping on San Ramon Road and installed landscaping in the medians at Silvergate Drive. Landscaping along San Ramon Road had experienced a difficult time establishing in the existing soil. This project allowed for the removal of existing soil and replacement with top soil and fir bark top dressing. English Ivy was planted throughout the length of the project, Silvergate Drive north to Shannon Avenue. For variety, clusters of three shrubs were also planted between every other existing tree. Medians along Silvergate Drive were also renovated with this project. All but one of the existing medians were excavated and filled with an aggregate base and sand. This material laid the foundation for paver stones. Paver stones were placed in a pattern to match those in the medians along Dublin Boulevard and Village Parkway. Trees were planted in tree wells spaced on approximately 30' intervals along all islands. The island between San Sabana and Calle Verde was planted with shrubs and trees as well as trimmed with the matching paver stone work. Shrubs were also planted at the north east corner of Silvergate Drive and San Ramon Road to improve the appearance of that corner. All areas on Silvergate Drive were improved with automatically controlled irrigation. All work has been completed as per City plans and specifications. Staff'recommends Council accept improvements under contract 97-03 and authorize payment to Herzer Landscaping, Inc. 2
