The low bid received, $7,795.42, exceeds funds budgeted for constrgction. Allowing for a 5%
contingency, an additional appropriation in the anmunt of $1,686 is needed for this proj eot.
DESCRIPTION: On August 4, 1998, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for
construction of a pedestrian path at Shannon Park. This project was originally budgeted in Fiscal Year
1997-98 but was not completed. The City Council has approved a budget change to re-appropriate funds
for construction in the current fiscal year.
In the recent past, residents have been traversing the slope between the existing bike path along the west
side of San Ramon Road and the service parking area at the rear of Shannon Center. A temporary path
has resulted from this trailblazing and may present a hazard to the users. This project will construct a
paved path on the previously graded slope.

A total of five bids were received. The low bidder was \V. T. Cook Construction with a bid of $7.795.42.

project. Staffhas reviewed the low bidder's proposal and checked with references and recommends that
the City Council (1) approve an additional appropriation in the amount of $1,686 and (2) adopt the
resolurion awar'ding Contract 89-08 to W. T. Cook Consffuction.

RESOLUTION NO. -98
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING CONTRACT 98-08
SHANNON PEDESTRIAN PATH
TO W. T. COOK CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on August 25, 1998, publicly open. examine, and
declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and
Modifications for Contract 98-08, Shannon Pedestrian Path, authorized by the City Council on August 4,
1998, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of
said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids: and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that
the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does
hereby award City of Dublin Contract 98-08 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit W. T. Cook
Construction, with a bid of Seven Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety Five Dollars and Forty Two Cents
($7,795.42), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this I st da3' of September. 1998.
