Investigator RECOMMENDATION: Ct'Accept Report FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: On March 31, 1992 the second reminder letters for nonconforming signs will be mailed to the business/property owners regarding the upcoming July 1992 expiration date. The reminder letters identify the signs which are nonconforming and the options available to bring the nonconforming signs into compliance with the City' s Sign Ordinance. Attached is an updated status list indicating the fifty-nine ( 59 ) non-conforming sign locations . The status list for February indicated 58 nonconforming sign locations and one sign location was inadvertently left off the list. The list indicates the reminder letters and notices sent and shows the type of approval (s) options required to modify or to maintain the existing nonconforming signs to comply with the ordinance. The following is an up-to-date summary of the attached status list: ■ Ten ( 10) sign locations could apply for Site Development Review. ■ Two (2 ) sign locations could apply for a Variance. ■ Thirty-three ( 33) sign locations could apply for a combination of ' either a Site Development Review, Conditional use Permit, Variance or an Administrative Conditional Use Permit. ■ One ( 1) sign location has one nonconforming sign which could apply for a combination approval and one illegal sign which requires removal . (Note: the status list shows this as one location) ■ Four (4 ) sign locations did not submit a request for a time extension. ■ One ( 1) sign location has received approval to bring their nonconforming signs into compliance; compliance is pending. ■ Eight ( 8) sign locations have been corrected and are in compliance with the Sign Ordinance. The comments section of the status list indicates 1) Staff ' s discussion with a business/property owner and if an appropriate application has been submitted, 2 ) the four business/property owner locations which did not submit a request for a time extension, 3) approvals granted for compliance of existing nonconforming signs and 4) any changes reflecting the non-conforming sign location. Twenty ( 20) business/property owners of the fifty-nine (59 ) nonconforming sign locations have contacted the Planning Staff, as a pre-application review process and to obtain more specific information, regarding their nonconforming signs . --------- -�--�---------------------------------------------------- ITEM NO.
