FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Total Project Construction Budeeted Low Bid Design, Inspection &Misc: $ 7,300 Construction: Remove & Replace 30,700 Grinding 12.000 Subtotal: $50,000 Handicap Ramps (CDBG Funding) 11.474 TOTAL PROJECT: $61,474 $ 28,471.75 10.000.00 TOTAL (this project): $42.174 $ 38.471.75 The sidewalk work has been budgeted, together with the grinding project, in the General Fund; however, the grinding portion is in the second year of a 2-year contract, and the work will be performed at a later date. The handicap ramp additions are being funded by a Community Development Block Grant. DESCRIPTION: On February 16, 1999, the City Council authorized Staffto solicit bids for Contract 99-02, Annual Sidewalk Safety Repair project. The Annual Sidewalk Safety Repair project repairs sidewalk locations that are offset 3/4" or more and may pose a tripping hazard. This contract specifies removal of existing sidewalk, curb and gutter, and in the case of root problems, removal of tree roots, installation of a root barrier to mitigate future problems, and then replacement of the concrete sidewalk. COPIES TO: Bidders ITEM NO. ~ gSmtceprojXsidewalk~agsta~xd This year, the construction of 10 handicap ramps was also included in the project funded by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). It was noted at the time City Council authorized this project to go out to bid that additional CDBG funds were available, and a Budget Change Form was approved in the amount of $923. To maximize the use of the grant, Staff proposes to add the construction of two more handicap ramps to this project. A total of I0 bids were received. The low bidder was J.J.R. Construction, Inc., with a bid of $38,471.75. Staffhas reviewed the bid results, checked with references, and recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract 99-02 to J.J.R. Construction, Inc. P~e2 RESOLUTION NO. - 99 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT 99-02, 1999 ANNUAL SIDEWALK SAFETY REPAIR PROGRAM AND HANDICAP RAMP CONSTRUCTION TO J.J.R. CONSTRUCTION, INC. WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did on April 13, 1999, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Conlract 99-02, 1999 Annual Sidewalk Safety Repair Program and Handicap Ramp Construction, authorized by the City Council on Febmmy 16, 1999, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has reviewed the bids to determine the lowest bid which was responsive to the requirements of the bid documents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award Contract 99-02 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to ~x4t, J.J.R. Construction, Inc., at a bid of Thirty-Eight Thousand Four Hundred Seventy-One Dollars and Seventy-Five Cents ($38,471.75), the particulars of which bid are on file in the office of the City Engineer.
