FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
One bid received $56,365
Amount budgeted for construction $35,000
DESCRIPTION: At its meeting of September 9, 1985, the
City Council authorized Staff to advertise for bids for Contract
85-6, 1985-86 Street Slurry Seal Program. This project provides
for the slurry sealing of various streets as shown on the
attached list and map. The Engineer's estimate for this project
is as follows:

The adopted 1985-86 Street Maintenance budget contains $50,000
for slurry seal. One bid of $56,365 by Valley Slurry Seal
Company was received. Last year, 3 bids were received. The
slurry companies are apparently very busy at this time causing
bids to be considerably higher.
Staff recommends that this bid be rejected and Staff be
authorized to seek bids at a later time when more contractors are
available to bid. Repair of these streets is presently being
done as part of the annual overlay project.
