Thompson, Public Works Director ATTACHMENTS: 1) Current agreement and most recent amendments 2) Letter from Santina and Thompson 3) Resolution and proposed amendment (two-year extension of agreement) RECOMMENDATION: <ZVjdopt resolution extending term of agreement for two additional years. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Santina and Thompson is not requesting a rate adjustment at this time. The rate schedule currently in use was approved in 1995. Santina and Thompson provides not -to -exceed proposals for work on specific projects. Services that are not project -specific such as Public Works Inspection and survey monument checking are performed according to the approved rate schedule or by negotiation. The cost of work for private development projects is paid by the developers; the cost of work on Capital Improvement Projects is budgeted with the specific project. DESCRIPTION: The City has contracted with Santina and Thompson for Engineering Services since 1983. The current agreement was executed in 1992 and has been extended by amendment every two years since that time. The last rate increase was approved in 1995. Currently, Santina and Thompson is providing Public Works Inspection services to cover the workload generated by new development and Capital Improvement Projects, as well as subdivision monument checking, survey staking for the Iron Horse Trail project, and work on the Eastern Dublin Arterials traffic impact fee study. The cost of work for private development projects is paid by the developers; the cost of work on Capital Improvement Projects is budgeted with the specific project. The work provided to date by Santina & Thompson has been satisfactory, professional, and competitive, and Staff recommends that the City Council approve the amendment to the agreement. --------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES TO: Santina & Thompson A. City Office by Consultant's employees than are assigned to the City on a long-term basis. ~Long ~erm basis" employees are defined as employees assigned au a minimum of ~wo (2) eight-hour days per week for a minimum of a 60-day period. "General Engineerimg Work" is defined as work not chargeable to private developments and shall--include staze and federally funded CIP work. ~ne City shall not pay Consultant for time spent commuting from the Consultant's office to the City's office for long-=erm'-basis employees. Examples of work meeting the above requirements and proposed to be oerformed at 75 percent of the rates shown in Exhibit B-1 are as follows: a) Attendance at Commission and City Council meetings. b) General Engineering Work performed from City offices. c) Capital Improvement Work performed from City offices. d) Sezx~ices performed from City offices which are re!aced to the review, issuance, and inspection of permits which are based on an established fee and the applicant is not charged the actual cost.
