FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Total budget for construction 1997-98 $ 75,000 Estimated Expenses: a) Concrete "Vee" ditches and catch basin modifications constructed earlier this Fiscal Year: $ 8,144 b) Low bid ($119,800) plus 10% contingency: 131,780 c) Claim settlement from Phase I construction (already paid): 67,500 TOTAL: The contractor claim will fall within the monies budgeted for 1997-98 for this project. The construction of this contract will be budgeted within the Fiscal Year 1998-99 Capital Improvement Program Budget. All expenses are funded by the City's General Fund. A developer legal settlement is proposed to offset this expense by $40,000. DESCRII~TION: On May 5, 1998, the City Council authorized Staff'to solicit bids for Contract 97-11, Dougherty Hills Slope Repair Project, Phase II. This project will increase the stability of the eastern slopes in the Dougherty Hills Open Space. In Phase I of this project, the City contracted for the removal of unstable soil at the southern end of Crossridge Road and replacement with a more stable sandstone material. Phase II will relieve the hillside of water pressure below grade and control runoff at the surface in the mid- to northern portions of the slope behind Crossridge Road. With the installation of three separate subdrain systems, the ground water will be directed into vee ditches and disposed of in the storm drain system. Surface runoffwill be collected by vee ditches and emptied into the storm drain system. The combination of these two systems will provide sufficient drainage to aid in stabilizing the soil. Staff'has reviewed the bid results, checked with references, and recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding the bid to Grade Teck Inc. Page 2 RESOLUTION NO. -98 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT 97-11 DOUGHERTY HILLS SLOPE REPAIR, PHASE II TO GRADE TECIt, INC. WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on June 9, 1998, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract 97-1 l, Dougherty Hills Slope Repair, Phase II, authorized by the City Council on May 5, 1998, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract 97-11 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit Grade Tech, Inc. w/th a bid of One Hundred Nineteen Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars and No Cents ($119,800.00), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City En~neer.
