DESCRIPTION: At its regular meeting of August 12,
1985, the City Council authorized Staff to advertise bids
for Contract 85-4, the Annual Street Overlay Program. This
project consisted of the annual street overlay project as
well as the preparatory patching for both the annual street
overlay project and the slurry seal project for Fiscal Year
1985-86. Funds have been allocated as part of the 1985-86
budget for this work.
On September 3, 1985, the City received a total of seven
bids on Contract #85-4. Bay Cities paving presented the
City with the lowest bid, $182,811.41.
Since the bids are well below the budgeted amount for
repaving and there is additional patching work that needs to
be accomplished that was not included in the plans and
specifications, it is recommended that the City Council
authorize the City Engineer to negotiate additional patching
work at the bid unit price. It is further recommended that
the City Council authorize a budget transfer from the Annual
Street Overlay Project to the Street Repair Account within
the Street Maintenance Budget in the amount of $60,000.

directed by the Engineer.
10-1.16 BLUE DOT PAVEMENT MARKERS. Pavement markers shall
be type DB and conform to the provisions in Section 85 ,
"Pavement Markers" of the Standard Specifications and these
Special Provisions .
Pavement markers will be placed at each fire hydrant
location. Markers are to be located 6" off the centerline of
the roadway at right angles to the fire hydrant.
