AGENDA STATEMENT
City Council Meeting Date: July 26, 1993
SUBJECT:
Written Communication: Stop Sign Request ~ Village Parkway at
Wineberry Way
Report by: Public Works Director Lee Thompson
EXHIBITS ATTACHED:
Letter from Homeowners Business Management representing
Parkway Terrace Homeowners
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive Staff presentation and provide direction regarding
requested traffic study
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
The cost of a stop sign study would be approximately $500 to
$1,000. No funds have been budgeted for FY 1993-94 for this
type of traffic study.
DESCRIFrlON: As part of the budget hearings for FY 1993-94, the City Council
determined to eliminate detailed traffic engineering studies by the City's traffic consultant, TJKM.
Staff recently received a request from the Parkway Terrace Homeowner's Association (through its
management firm) for installation of stop signs on Village Parkway at the intersection of Wineberry
Way. This intersection is the entrance into the "Parkway Terrace" subdivision. Staff advised the
Homeowners Association that no funds were available for a warrant study. The Homeowners
Association is requesting that the City Council consider the installation of stop signs and reinstatement
of traffic studies.
Staff recommends that the City Council select one of the following options:
1)
Authorize an engineering study including updated traffic counts to be performed. This
would require an additional appropriation from reserves.
2) Deny the request for the study.
3) Any other direction as appropriate.

RE: PA WAY TERRACE HOM--EOVJNERS ASSOCUUON/STOP SIGNS
Ladies and Gentlemen
Tn a recent telephone conversation with Mehran Sepehri, our office was advised that ,Ls a
result of budget cuts, the City of Dublin does not yerf0fra traffic Siudie3 based on citizen
requests. Therefore, the Parkway Terrace Homeowners Association, representing 133
homeovrners, is requesting your attention and review of the interest of several owners in
having stop signs installed on Village Parkway at Wineberr_y Way. Village Parkway and
jVineberry uy is the only intersection in the area which i, not protected by three-v: uy stop
signs. With commute and high school traffic combined, it is extremely difficult to negotiate
safely from Wineberry Way.
Ass a matter of public safety, the. Parkway Terrace Home4wner ,Acso-.iation respertfilly
requests that the wuncii consider the stop sign installation as weii as the reinstatement of
traffic studies pursuant to citizen requests.
Thank you for your anticipated attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
HOMEOWNERS BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, !NC.
