HomeMy WebLinkAbout6.1 Sister City Relationship Dublin Ireland )r 6jo ' e-0 CITY OF DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: September 10, 1984 SUBJECT Written Communication Regarding Sister City Relationship with Dublin Ireland EXHIBITS ATTACHED Letter from Michael O' Halloran, Lord Mayor of .Dublin Ireland dated August 22 , 1984 RECOMMENDATION Determine form of greetings to send with Superintendent Cochran FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Undetermined DESCRIPTION The City has received a letter from Michael O ' Halloran, Lord Mayor of Dublin , Ireland indicating that the Dublin Council is presently considering our City ' s request to establish a sister city relationship with Dublin , Ireland. He has indicated that he would contact our City when his Council has taken some definitive action. Lord Mayor O' Halloran has indicated that he has made arrangements to meet with Murray School District Superintendent Dick Cochran during the time that Mr . Cochran will be visiting Ireland to participate in the Dublin Marathon . It is Staff ' s recommendation that the City Council determine what form of greetings the City should send with Mr . Town twinning is at present under consideration .by my Council and I have arranged to bring your letter to the attention of the Committee dealing with thematter. I will write to you further when I have some definite infor- mation on the matter . In the meantime, I would be delighted to welcome. Mr. Richard F. Cochran, who is coming to Dublin to take part in the Radio 2 Dublin City Marathon. ' I have made a tentative appointment for Mr. Cochran to call on me at the Mansion House at 10 a.m. on Saturday the 27th October.
