Mr . Cully has indicated that the residents on Amador Valley Boulevard do not want the street widened, nor the speed limit increased to 30 mph. During the 1983-84 budget hearings, the City Council authorized the Staff to undertake a comprehensive traffic engineering study of Amador Valley Boulevard. The Traffic Engineer has indicated that it will be approximately two months before the comprehensive traffic study is completed. In addition, during the 1983 through 1988 Capital Improvement Program review, the City Council considered the improvement of Amador Valley Boulevard by narrowing the median in order to provide safer access out into the traffic lanes by residents . This project, along with subsequent landscaping, were scheduled for 1984-85 and 1985-86 , pending the completion of the comprehensive traffic study by the City ' s Traffic Engineer. Staff shares the concerns that the residents have with respect to traffic safety along Amador Valley Boulevard and will incorporate those concerns into the review of the Amador Valley Boulevard traffic study. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES TO: Terry Cully, 7029 Amador Valley Blvd ITEM NO' 6 . / Joseph Martin, 7017 " 11 it os c c%o c rTy o`3/szJ 1,F°-3 UAtiT F Oe 414 Toi-) C 0A) TA/y D /mil 7-7,4 CrP > cof y O /e- %/-de- 012 '4 -002 H•'.c you/ Ccy'ccCy -7 p ,CJ -D C,(a C W f--• 9'cl,-r c 6> 3 NClV r:3TT Oi: . .a; • PLiITION IN SUPPORT OF AN ALTERNATIVE PLAN FOR AMADOR VALLEY BLVD. We the undersigned are concerned citizens of the City of Dublin, Alameda County, State of California . We are herreby petitioning the Dublin City .Council and Alameda Board of Supervisors to cancel their "Master Plan" for Traffic Control on Amador Valley Boulevard and instead consider the following plan which emphasizes safety, traffic speed control , and neighborhood improvements . The plan simply stated includes three basic points which we the undersigned subscribe to : 1) The placement of Stop Signs where Ann Arbor Way and Penn. Street intersect with Amador Valley Boulevard in an effort to provide safety to both vehicles and pedestrians (school children for example) traveling in both directions . 2) The landscaping of the medium divide of Amador Valley Boulevard in an effort to improve the neighborhood scenic value . This would also include a continual maintenance of the divide strip to keep it clean of trash. 3) The posting of a speed limit of 25 miles per hour along the entire Amador Valley Boulevard with appropriate radar enforcement by the Dublin Police Department . Although the speed limit is now 25 miles per hour along most sections of the boulevard, this speed limit would be enforced with the aid of radar surveillance so as to catch speeding vehicles that now average 40 miles per hour . In addition, we the undersigned do not want : 1) A widening of Amador Valley Boulevard as proposed by the City to accomodate more traffic . 2) An increase of the speed limit to 30 miles per hour , or higher . 3) A costly increase to the taxpayer as proposed by the City' s "Master Plan" on Amador Valley traffic which has been estimated to run as high as $400 , 000 to achieve fruitless objectives .
