Gentlemen:
September 1982 at approximately
An unpleasant incident occurred Thursday, 2 Se p
6:30pm that both shocked and appalled myself and my daughter.
We were at the Crafty Fox Macrame Shop, Alpha Beta Shopping Center, Dublin
attending a lesson when a man by the name of Mr. Bill Tennery came into the
open doorway and started yelling at the owner, Betty Ivey, about parking her
car in front of her shop. He ranted and raved at her using foul, abusive
language telling her if she didn't move her car and keep it moved he was
going to have it towed away and as head of Dublin's Planning Commission he
had the power and authority to do so. As it was, her car, my car and one
other car were the only three cars parked in the North end of the center;
all the other businesses appeared to be closed. He continued to carry on
and accused her of constantly sipping on her wine jug. He said he had the
county officers at Santa Rita watching her with instructions to pick her up
when she left. I became so embarrassed I could of crawled under the table.
I have patronized the Crafty Fox once or twice a week for over two years,
spending hours at a time there. I have never smelled or seen anything
. resembling wine or any other alcoholic beverage except the macrame hangings
that display wine bottles and glasses for customers to make.
What kind of person is Mr. Tennery who can use his public position of
Planning Commissioner to harrass and threaten a small business owner, let
alone embarrass her in front of paying customers? Is this the type of
person who should represent a newly formed city such as Dublin. If so,
maybe someone should take a second look and reexamine the finer qualities
this Mr. Tennery possesses. I found the whole incident disgustingly rude
and completely uncalled for.
Sincerely, ,
,a,th2.,.4 s. Diane Sprinkle

COUNCILPERSONS:
It has come to my attention that Diane SpAinkte, o6 Pleasanton,
has sent a to ten to the membeM of the city counci-e in negands
to an .incident that occurred at a business known as the "CRAFTY
FOX" in Dublin. I do not know Diane Sp'Lnk.be, but since the
.letter did seem a bit hams h I 1 eQLt I s honed wn,ite a ionmal
nepfy to the Council..
The Crafty Fox is .located within the same complex as my business.
It was brought to my attention by another tenant within the same
complex that the owner of the Cna1ty Fox paths hen. can in bnont
o b hen stone - this is a vio!at,Lon o i the lease ion this complex -
and wooed I mind saying something to her; I said I wowed.
I .eaten stopped by the Crafty Fox and asked Betty Ivey .i she
would peease parrk hen can in a di44erent .location so the spaces
in 1nont ob the vaxiouo businesses cowed be nesenved son customeJvs.
A few days .eater I noticed she, Betty Ivey, was stilt parrk.ing in
the same place. Again I stopped by hen shop with the same request
as the i.vrst time at which time she said it was none of my 6m-mess.
I pointed out that as a tenant in the same complex it was my business
and that .1.6 she continued to park in the same .location I would make
a wnctten request to the £a.ndeond that he have her move and
she would not move to have hen towed within the boundnies of the
tease.
I would point out that at no time did I mention my position on the
P..ann-Lng Commission - I was there as a tenant.
I wooed also point out that Betty Ivey continues to park in the same
pace and I have not contacted the £andeond on anyone e 6 e. However,
as I was £eay.Lng my office on October 19, 1982, a man placed his
hand in my car on my arm and told me .ic I continued to hanrass his
w-ibe he wowed "BEAT THE ` . OUT OF ME". I toed the man I
did not know what he was.taZEing bout, got out of my can, went
to "the door o 6 the "CRAFTY FOX" and toed Beefy ,!4ok**Ag-I did not
know who the "gentleman was but i6 he were to perusue such a course
I wowed have to .Lnpnm the Local potLce to keep him away {nom me
because I do not .indulge such conOantations".
I wooed only add that Betty Ivey has made standenous comments to
people I know, over the past several months, about my clothes, my
ha.vc, my wank habits, and my position in the city. I have to i,ed to
,ignore the comments - never once conbnonting hen on the subjects.
I trust this w t t answer. any questions you may have.
