SUBJECT Request from Bedford Properties for
Median Break on Dublin Boulevard

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: No cost to the City
DESCRIPTION At a previous City Council meeting, Daniel Summers ,
representing Bedford Properties , requested that the
City consider construction of a median break on
Dublin Boulevard in front of the Orchard Supply
Hardware Store , to provide better access to the
. property presently occupied by Orchard Supply
Hardware Store and Ross Department Store . The City
Council asked the City Engineer to determine if this
request could be reviewed apart from an overall study
of Dublin Boulevard.
The City Engineer has indicated that this request can
be studied separately and that such a study could be
completed in approximately three weeks . Mr . Summers
has indicated that Bedford Properties would pay the
cost of the study, approximately $1 , 300, and also the
cost of constructing a median break, if the study
indicated that such construction would be desirable .
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the
City Traffic Engineer to undertake such a study ,
provided that Bedford Properties deposits sufficient
funds with the City to cover the cost of the study.

As .the.-new -owners of the ,former Liberty House,Properties ,`.
Bedford .Properties has .encountered' difficulties `with the
traffic flow, or . lack ;thereof, on. Dublin Blvd.,", In prior'
meetings,..with the council , I have expressed a desire for
a median cut .of Dublin Blvd in`front of ,the 'Orchard Supply
Hardware'.'Store:
Mr. .Lee •Thompson, Dublin City Engineer, `has been very helpful
in .helping :us to expedite this matter. He informs. me .that a
study ',and .report on the median cut .would . cost approximately
$1 ,300 . "- We •will pay for such a study and the cost of the
construction .of the median break, should it .be an acceptable
.: alternate method of handling traffic, if we'-could advance our
study in time and proceed immediately.
. Should the median cut .be constructed; traffic flow would be
increased drastically -and would assist us ..in marketing the
vacant .space, leading to a 'fu11 and prosperous center to the
. benefit of Bedford Properties , the tenants of the center and
the City of Dublin and its constituents .
