Sufficient funds are included in the City Council's Budget. DESCRIPTION: During the festivities surrounding St. Patrick's Day this year, the,City of Dublin will host 2 honored guests from our sister'city, Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland: John Byrne, Chairman of the Bray Urban District Council serves as Mayor, and Thomas Murphy, Bray's Town Clerk. Councilmember Lockhart has suggested that a civic exchange would be appropriate with a theme "Mayor to Mayor" and"City Clerk to City Clerk"as a way of exploring cultural similarities and differences. She has suggested that the City Council and City Clerk host a short reception for Mr. Byrne and Mr. Murphy just prior to the Chamber of Commerce's annual St. Patrick's Day luncheon on Tuesday, March 17, 1998. If approved, the reception would be held at the Dublin Monarch Hotel from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, and the guest list would include the City Council, the City's Commissions and Committees, Dublin's Citizen of the Year, representatives from the Organization of the Year, the Board of Directors of the Dublin Sister City Association, and City Staff. Light appetizers would be served. Engraved plaques which would include space for a photograph commemorating the visit would be presented to each of the visitors. The estimated costs for the event, including food, beverages and plaques will be approximately$325.
