Ambrose, City Manager ExmBITS A TT ACHED: Draft Agreement RECOMMENDA nON: !J/ Approve agreement and authorize the Mayor to execute agreement. FINA..NCIAL STATEMENT: There will be no additional direct costs for use of the Fire Station located at the Santa Rita Jail. The agreement does provide, however, that the City would provide fire services to the immediately adjacent unincorporated area in exchange for the use of the Fire Station facility. DESCRIPTION: The Dougherty Regional Fire Authority currently has an agreement with the County of Alameda for use of the Santa Rita Jail Fire Station. As a result ofthe dissolution of the Dougherty Regional Fire Authority on July 1, 1997, it is necessary for the City to secure a station facility in the eastern Dublin area to provide fire services. The City Manager has negotiated an agreement with the Alameda County Fire Chief which is substantially the same as the agreement that the Dougherty Regional Fire Authority had with the County. The agreement is ongoing and provides that it may be terminated by either party 'with 24 months advance written notice. The use of this facility will enable the City to defer the construction of a permanent station into the future until the development pattern in eastern Dublin is more established. It is Staff's recommendation that the Council approve the agreement and authorize the Mayor to execute the agreement.
