DESCP.IPTION At the Park and Recreation Commission
meetings of May 13 and June 10, 1986, the Commission discussed a
name for the soon to be completed Amador Lakes/Stagecoach Road
Park. Staff identified the following guidelines for the
Commission to consider when determining a park name :
1 . Geographic Location
a. Major Streets
b. Water Bodies
c . Hills/Ridgelines
d. Subdivision Name
2 . Landscaping
a. Indigenous Trees or Plantings
b. Topography
3 . Historic Significance
- 4 . Name of People - Living vs . Deceased
5 . Traditionally Known As . . . .
As a result of their discussion, the Commission recommended that
the City sponsor a contest to name the Amador Lakes/Stagecoach
Road Park. This will be the first City-owned park and the
Commission felt that it was appropriate for the residents to have
a voice in it ' s name .
If the Council feels that a contest to name the park is
advisable, then staff recommends that the Council determine the
contest guidelines taking into consideration the following
factors :
1 . Contest Rules
2 . Judging Criteria
3 . Prizes
It is the recommendation of staff that the City Council consider
the recommendation of the Park and Recreation Commission; or
select a name for the Park.

DESCRIPTION The Park and Recreation Commission has
been tasked with making a recommendation to the City Council on a
name for the Amador Lakes/Stagecoach Road Mini-Park. As this is
the first of four new parks that will require names, it is
suggested that the Commission establish guidelines for the naming
of parks .
Staff has identified the following areas to be considered when
deciding on a park' s name:
1. Geographic Location
a. Major Streets _
b. Water Bodies
C . Hills/Ridgelines
d. Subdivision Name
2 . Landscaping
a. Indigenous Trees or Plantings
b . Topography
3 . Historic Significance
4 . Name of People - Living vs . Deceased

It is staffs recommendation that the Commission take the
following action:
1 . Establish guidelines for naming parks
2 . Determine a name for Amador Lakes/Stagecoach Road
Mini-Park
3 . Direct staff to notify the Council of the Commissions

The Commission discussed this item at their May 13 , 1986 meeting
and the following names were suggested :
Amador Lakes Heritage Shamrock Hills
Dry Creek Heritage Echo Stagecoach
Dublin Heritage Hill Top St . Patricks
Dublin Shamrock Lone Oak Victory
Echo Hill Pioneer
Green Acres Shamrock Acres
In addition , the Commission directed staff to inquire at the
Dublin Library for the Irish or Gaelic equivalents of park
related items . They are as follows :*
Public Park - Paire Phoibli Grass - Fear m
One - Aon Trees - Crann m
First - Cead
