Parade Entry Application
Float Building Workshop Flyer
RECOMMENDATION: /7 .4..r7 Provide direction on the type of entry the City Council prefers, and
/ ~v~. direct Staff to submit a parade application on behalf of the Council
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Sufficient funds are available in the FY 1998/99 Budget to pay for
the $25.00 entry fee.
DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Lion's Club will be holding their annual 51. Patrick's
Day Parade on Saturday, March 13, 1999, beginning at 9:30 A.M. The parade route will be the same as in
the past, beginning on Dublin Boulevard at Amador Plaza Road and ending on Amador Valley Boulevard
at Regional Street. Staff has checked with CalTrans and there will be no impact on the parade route due
to the freeway construction.
In the past the City Council has participated in the parade as either a walking entry or as a vehicle entry.
Last year the City Council secured the use of a convertible vehicle and drove along the parade route. The
City Council has the option of walking in the parade, riding in a car, or participating in a different manner
such as building a float.
If it is the intent of the Council to participate in the parade, it is recommended that the City Council
provide direction on the type of entry they prefer, and direct Staff to submit a parade application on their
behalf.
As a new event this year, the City will be hosting a Float Building Workshop on Saturday, February 6,
from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at the Shannon Community Center. The workshop will assist Dublin
organizations with the design, construction and decoration of a float. Parade day appearance and drill
team routines will also be discussed.
