FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None.
DESCRIPTION: Mayor Snyder has requested that Staff place the
Alameda County Supervisorial Redistricting Proposal on the City Council
Agenda for August 12, 1991.
To date, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors has introduced an
Ordinance that would implement Alternative Plan S, which would result in
placing the City of Dublin and a portion of the City's eastern sphere of
influence in the supervisorial district of Mary Ring. Alternative S, as
originally proposed, had identified the easterly boundary of Supervisor
Ring's district as Collier Canyon Road, which would result in Supervisor
Ring's district encompassing all of the City of Dublin's eastern planning
area. At the board meeting of August 6, 1991, the Board of Supervisors, at
the request of Supervisor Campbell, moved the easterly boundary of
Supervisor Ring's district to align with the Pleasanton township line, as
shown on Exhibit 3. This boundary change would result in placing a portion
of the City's existing sphere of influence in Supervisor Campbell's
district as well as place the remaining Doolan Canyon Area in Supervisor
Campbell's district. As the City Council is aware, the City is presently
developing the East Dublin General Plan Amendment which includes a General
Plan Study and proposed Amendment for the Doolan Canyon area. Based on the
modification to Alternative S, it is possible that the future boundary of
the City of Dublin could encompass two supervisorial districts.
