DESCRIPTION The City Council allocated funds for the position of Secretary to the Planning Director in adopting the City's 1982-83 annual budget. Before commencing the recruitment, the City Council should establish a salary range and benefits for the position and approve the job description which has been prepared by Staff. Staff has performed a salary survey of cities of similar size and neighboring cities (see attached). The results of that survey indicated that an appropriate salary range for the position of Planning Secretary would be $1300 - $1600 per month. In all cities surveyed, this position was either not required to take minutes at evening meetings, paid overtime, or given compensatory time off. It is Staff's recommendation that this position be paid overtime for work performed at evening meetings. With respect to fringe benefits, it is Staff's recommendation that the same fringe benefits be provided to the Planning Secretary that are provided to the Secretary to the City Manager/Deputy City Clerk, including: Retirement under the Public Employee's Retirement System Medical coverage equivalent to the cost of full family coverage under the Kaiser Health Plan Dental coverage 20 vacation and sick leave days per year ITEM NO. V• Copies To: PLANNING SECRETARY The Position This position serves as Secretary to the City's Planning Director, performing difficult and responsible secretarial duties. This work involves extensive public contact and relieving the Planning Director of routine administrative details. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING POSITION OF PLANNING SECRETARY WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is necessary to provide adequate staffing to assist the Planning Director in the performance of his duties; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that it is desirable to provide additional secretarial assistance to meet the City's needs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that ttie Dublin City Council hereby establishes the position of Planning Secretary and establishes the following salary and fringe benefits for the position: Salary - $1300-$1600 per month Retirement under the Public Employee's Retirement System Medical coverage equivalent to the cost of full family coverage under the Kaiser Health Plan Dental coverage 20 vacation and sick leave days per_year Paid overtime for minute taking PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this day of 1982, by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Mayor City Clerk ., ,.
