The duty of the alternates was defined as attending and actively participating in meetings and filling in as voting member s if regular members are absent. During the discussion, the City Council directed Staff to return to the City Council after the first year of service by the alternates with a report on the efficacy of these positions. The alternates were appointed by the City Council at the meeting of May 21, 2019. Two alternates were appointed to the Planning Commission, one to the Parks and Community Services Commission, one to the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission, and two to the Human Services Commission. No alternates were appointed to the Senior Center Advisory Committee, as the entire applicant pool filled all vacant positions. The alternates began their service on July 1, 2019.
