Acceptance of donation from the Altamont Cruisers Car Club

RECOMMENDATION: 1. Accept the donation from the Altamont Cruisers in the amount of
~ $3,000.00.
~ 2. Approve Budget Change
3. Direct staff to prepare formal acknowledgement to donor.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Acceptance of this donation in the amount of$3,000.00 will assist Dublin
Police Services in the updating of its curriculum and video presentations, for the youth drug and alcohol
awareness programs taught in conjunction with the Dublin Unified School District.
DESCRIPTION: The Altamont Cruisers Car Club has as a matter of tradition, been an integral partner
with Dublin Police Services in our efforts to educate the youth of our community. The primary focuses
being the alcohol and drug awareness curriculum that is taught in conjunction with the Dublin Unified
School District.
As a result of their generous contribution to Dublin Police Services, there will be an opportunity to replace
the present outdated training materials currently utilized for presenting alcohol and drug awareness
programs throughout the City of Dublin. This updated curriculum will increase Dublin Police Service's
ability to provide current and supportive information to the youth of the City of Dublin. The staff of
Dublin Police Services is deeply thankful and appreciative of the generous contribution and continued
support by the members of the Altamont Cruisers.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $3,000.00 donation, approve the Budget Change, and
direct staff to formally acknowledge the donor, and use the funds toward the updating of the curriculum
taught in the Dublin Unified School District, by the Dublin Police Services Crime Prevention Officer.
