1. I am interested in serving on the Parks and community Services Commisgion
because I enjoy being involved in activities that affect my city. I have lived in
Dublin my entire life anti re,~lly care about making decisions that affect it. I believe
I have valuable input that could help the Commission's effectiveness.
2. I think the most important contribution I could make to the Commission is my
experience and commitment. I have been a member of the city of Dublin's Youth
Advisory Committee for the last two years and have helped plan activities for our
city's teens that have made'me more aware of our community. I am a responsible
person and would be excited about this new opportunity to be involved in my city.
Growing up in Dublin,. many of my memories include DUblin, s parks and I still
ot~en visit them. I feel I have a good knowledge of the facilities and could use this
to give helpful feedback.
4. Being a part of the YOuth Advisory Committee, I have spent more time at the
Shannon Center and have witnessed several programs the Department puts on.
AJso, as a Committee member, I have been receiving the COmmission's minutes,
which have kept me up on several programs the Commission is working on for the
city. When I was younger, 'I took several of the offei-ed classes, including my
preschool class. Just last spring, I also helped out at the annual Easter Egg Hunt for
young children.
5. At Dublin High School, I am involved in the leadership class and play on the
school's volleyball team in the fall

Wl~y are you interested in serving on the Parks and Community Services Commission?
I'm the kind o~person who ikes to be in where all the decisions are made. I like
to be part oFthe decision-makJn9 parts of'things. Being in the Parks and Community
Services Commission would al[OW me to voice my opinions. J used to live in Hayward,
The city had nothing Ko offer me but a house to live in. I didn't even attend school in
Hayward. Dublin has offered m'e with more opportunities than ! could take'. I
reach Out to th'e community and show them that there are opportunities out there. You
just have to have someone to give it to you. I want to be the person that 9ives the
opportunities to everyone else in the general public, l wantto hold projects and events
that will allow Dublin' residents expand their horizons. I want be par~ o~anything that
would allowthe communityto 9etto know each other and socialize. I also love parks and
Working together wi~b people that have the same in~ceres~c and goal as me Would an
honor.
What is the most important contribution you can make to the Commission?
I love working with people. Two heads is better~han one. I have so manyties
with Pleas~nton. i have.a Friend in the Youth Co~JssJo~ JD Pleasanton. I have
enthusiastic aboatt~ethings I love and believe in, which includes giving backto
community. I have a sugge~ion a~out working with Dublin school leade~hip classes.
When I was in middle school, I never even heard °~Dublin Youth AdvJso~ Commi~ee.
realized ~h~ no many students read ~hrou9B the Dublin guide. ~¢ s~ould make'i~ a ~oal
to have students reco~mze public orqanizations like Parb and Communi~ Se~ice
Commissions.
What knowledge 4o you have o~the parks and recreational ~ciJities in PubJJn~
I do know tha~ ~h¢ commission works with ~he ci~ to build a b~er communi~.
They provide i~eas and plans to develop be~er parks and events For Dublin to share,
O~herthan thatto ~ honest, I'm pr~ ctueless. But ~ love a challenge.
Wha~ knowledge do you have oF~h¢ programs offered ~hrough thc Parks an4
Community 5cwices Pepa~men~! Have you ever pa~Jcipa~ed in a program or class
offered by the Parks and Communi~ Sewice
I know the goal oFthe programs o~¢red bythe depa~men~ is to promote a
6ommunity sense around paNin. I did a~end ~he S~. Patrick Pay Festival and helped
with ~h¢ P~bl[n YAC ~o~h. I also helped out wi~h ~be F~re Pepa~ment break'st
tim not sure if'the Parks and Communi~ Service Department was part of'the art contest,
What scho°l :and/or ex~ra curricular activities are you involved in?
I am in the Dublin Youth Advisory Commission of 2003-2004. I love this
commission because it allowed me to interact with different'teenagers outside of'school.
We a Iso decide plans to create a better community and actually have the plans carried
out. The hands-on opportunities are very helpful for my future in choosing my maiot'.
I am also in my-school's journalism class. Journalism is very importantto me.
Aqain, l.like to be in with the ad:ion and am interested in knowing how people feel about
ce-rtain topics. I like interviewing people and tied-ting a chance to speak with strangers or
people I usually wouldn't have a reason to talkto. Journalism also allows me to voice my
opinion to the general public. Oul- newspaper reaches all corners of'the city; we even send
some or'to the ~lr corners of'the States. Ourteacber gives our class many opportunities
to work with.big name companies like CNN and Regal. For example, we wrote video
ideas for anti drinking and driving for Regal Cinema to put in '[:be theatres before every
movie. Regal Cinema and our school's video production class are working on making the
videos come true. Each year, my class cjoes a conference trips all over'the countryto share
ideas with di~erent schools. This year, we wentto San Diego f'or the JEA conrrerence.
I am also in our school's Peer Mediation procJram. It has allowed me to
communicate better with others, it also allowed me to socialize wfch students from all
dif'f'erent classes and years while outside o~Ca class environment.
I am in Chinese Cultural classes and ah lessons on Sundays. I th'ink I'm going to
minor in a~ when i get into college (while i maior in public relations/advertisement or
in journalism).
I'm in Cahfomia Scholarship Federation. The club doesn't do a whole lot these
days. But there's always next year.
I've been volunteering at the Pieasanton Convalescent Home down by
Pleasanton's downtown on Tuesdays. tt breaks my heart to see the people being tied up
in chairs because of'their illness, f would hate to live there'and not bare anyone come
and see me once in a while.
I also started an uno~cial book club at school, it's a book club for ail people who
like to read and have coffee. The school wouldn't support the club because it [s an otr-f-
campus club. we have club meeting every month, including the summer.
lam vice president otfFoothill's Women Health Organization. we spenttb¢ year
raising money and giving support'co abused women around the world.
I am public relations tCor my school's debate club. We're planning on cjettincj
more people to join so we can compete with other schools in debating.
