Report Prepared by: Julie Carter, Assistant to the City Manager ATTACHMENTS: None RECOMMENDATION: ~ Receive Presentation FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None. Original funding of the City's participation in Calopps.org was provided for in the Fiscal Year 2002-2003 budget. DESCRIPTION: During the City's Fiscal Year 2002-2003 process the City Council · approved a Higher Service Level which provided funding for charter membership in an employment web site exclusively for public employers of Northern California. It was anticipated that 15-30 Northern California governmental agencies would join together in partnership to provide this service. Since 2003, the City of Foster City, under the leadership of Mr. Audrey Daniels, Human Resources Director and his team of technology professionals from Foster City have worked diligently with 10 charter member agencies to create Calopps.org. These 10 agencies include the Cities of: Belmont, Burlingame, Dublin, Foster City, Livermore, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Leandro, San Mateo and Town of Los Gatos. This consortium of the 10 public agencies determined that it is more efficient and cost-effective to advertise public employment through a consortium of agencies than by directl~y advertising as individual public agencies. The web site, located at Calopps.org on the World Wide Web provides special services for the effective and efficient marketing and advertising of public sector employment opportunities. The Consortium was created to pool public agencies resources to develop, implement and administer a public sector Internet job board and employment marketing strategy to establish public sector employment as the employment of choice. Candidates visiting Calopps.org can view jobs by individual member agency, search all jobs by use of keywords, and post a resume to any or all jobs of interest to them at one time. In addition, candidates will receive an e-mail alert when jobs meeting their criteria become available. The Calopps.org web site enables the City to receive resumes and applications from interested candidates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a secure environment. The web site provides the City's Personnel Division with the ability to manage and maintain a pool of active resumes and applications, allowing the City to fill vacant positions more quickly and efficiently. In addition to providing the City with a member profile page, the Calopps.org site provides the City with a link back to the City's own web site. Mr. Daniels is here tonight to provide a live demonstration ofth~ Calopps.org website and to answer any questions from the City Council. COPIES TO: . ITEM NO. ~.}
