FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: The City has received the Certification of Election results from the
Alameda County Registrar of Voters, Bradley J. Clark.
Dublin's voter turnout was 31.7%. Of 13,600 registered voters, a total of 4,316 ballots were cast in the
City of Dublin. As a point of information, voter turnout in past elections was:
November, 2000 = 78.9%
November, 1998 = 49.9%
November, 1996 = 64.3%
November, 1994 = 60.1%
The March 5, 2002 election results are as follows:

Suzanne Flores 617 Votes
Mark Breazeal 539 Votes
Shawn Costello 202 Votes
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution declaring the results of the March 5,
2002 election.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
RECITING THE FACTS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
HELD ON MARCH 5, 2002, DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF,
AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW
WHEREAS, a consolidated special general municipal election was held and conducted in the
City of Dublin, County of Alameda, State of California, on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, as required by law;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council requested that the Alameda County Board of Supervisors order
the consolidation of said election with the Statewide Primary Election; and
WHEREAS, the territory affected by this order of consolidation, to wit, within the boundaries of
the City of Dublin, said election was held in all respects as though there were only one election in
accordance with the provisions of Section 10418 of the Elections Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Elections Code Section 15301 et seq., the Registrar of Voters
has canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the results, pending approval of the Board of
Supervisors at their next regularly scheduled meeting. Said results are received, attached and made a
part hereof as EXHIBIT A.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1. That there were seventeen (17) voting precincts established for the purpose of
holding said election consisting of consolidations of the regular election precincts in the City of Dublin
as established for the holding of state, county and local elections.
Section 2. That said special municipal election was held for the purpose of electing the
following officer of said City as required by the laws relating to cities in the State of California, to wit:
One (1) Member of the City of Dublin to serve the remaining time on a four-year
(4) term which ends in November, 2004.
Section 3. That the whole number of votes cast in the City of Dublin was 4,316.
Section 4. That the names of persons voted for at said election for Councilmember of City
of Dublin are as follows:

Tim Sbranti
Suzanne Flores
That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in
the City to each of such persons above named are as listed in Exhibit A attached.
Section 5. The City Council does declare and determine that:
Tim Sbranti was elected as a Member of the Dublin City Council for that time
remaining on a four (4) year term which ends in November, 2004.
Section 6. That the City Clerk shall enter into the records of the City Council of said City, in
accordance' with Elections Code Section 10264, a statement of the results of said election, shoWing:

The whole number of votes cast in the City.
The names of the persons voted for.
For what office each person was voted for.
The number of votes given at each precinct to each person.
The total number of votes given in the City to each person.
Section 7. That the City Clerk shall administer to the person elected, the Oath of Office
prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe thereto and
file the same in the Office of the City Clerk. Whereupon, said person so elected shall be inducted into
the respective office to which they have been elected. The City Clerk shall sign and deliver to that
person elected, a Certificate of Election.
Section 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution;
shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make an entry of the
passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the
minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
