DESCRIPTION: In 2003-2004 the Dublin City Council rated as a high priority goal:
"to refurbish exhibit space within the Murray Schoolhouse to provide a fresh setting that will optimally
highlight Dublin's History".
The now completed Restoration Project entitled "The Journey" at the Murray Schoolhouse provides a
setting that highlights Dublin's history. The entire exhibit space has been completely renovated and
updated. At the Council's direction, eight individual exhibit elements were incorporated into the design,
including; The Native Californians of Dublin, Spanish Era, Pioneer's Journey West, Pioneer Kitchen,
Historic Murray Classroom, John Green's Store, Children's Hands-on Area, and Yolk McClain Era.
In funding the project, donations were encouraged and the Dublin Historic Preservation Association
(DHPA) stepped forward to generously contribute to different elements of the project. DHPA has worked
with the City to fund the following projects for the Heritage Center:
· Purchased $6,426 of new furniture to augment the Resource Area for the new Exhibit Restoration
Project;
· Funded the production of a ten minute video which tells the story of Dublin's history and will be
used for promotional purposes at a cost of $700;
· Provided $225 in materials to refurbish the Heritage Center Bam.
